Hello! My name is Rachel Schwartzman and I currently serve as the Accessibility and Inclusion Specialist for Space Center Houston in Texas. I strive to improve programming and spaces in museums and other cultural nonprofits. It was never enough to just have wheelchair access, but I am hoping to help fast-track accessibility progress.
I am passionate about making access and inclusion a priority for these institutions so that visitors with disabilities do not feel like an afterthought.

My degrees include a B.A. in Anthropology and Museum Studies as well as a Master’s in Special Education and a certificate in Nonprofit Management.

I have been published in Curator: The Museum Journal for my paper, “Expanding Accessibility: Sensory Sensitive Programming for Museums”.

Is your organization looking for help creating and implementing a Sensory Sensitive Program? These programs are a great way to let the community see that all are welcome!

Create Advisory Counsel

“Nothing about us, without us.” An organization that is committed to DEAI needs Advisory Counsels and I can help you make that happen. Bring in the people that know what they are talking about.

Accessibility Consultation & Evaluation

Don’t know where to start? I can provide a accessibility consultation and evaluation to determine what your organization might need to do to meet the needs of the Disability Community.

Accessibility Staff Training

A place isn’t truly accessible if your staff and volunteers are not trained properly on inclusive practices. Let’s work together to get everyone up to snuff.
